**Why is it sometimes easier to encourage others than to encourage ourselves?**
In Part 1 of this PWC Truth Talk conversation, Steve and Pastor Chachi begin the series **“Breaking Free from Negative Self-Talk.”**
They discuss how rejection, criticism, failure, abuse, comparison, and painful life experiences can affect the way we see ourselves. Over time, a difficult experience can become a false belief:
“I’m not good enough.”
“I’ll never change.”
“I’m a failure.”
“God could never use someone like me.”
Negative self-talk is not always obvious. It can also appear in the small things we say about ourselves after a mistake, disappointment, or difficult moment.
In this episode, Steve and Pastor Chauncey explore:
• Why people struggle to recognize their God-given value
• How painful experiences can create false beliefs
• The difference between making a mistake and believing you are a mistake
• How negative self-talk affects emotions, choices, faith, and relationships
• Why our value comes from God rather than success or approval
• The first practical step toward changing negative self-talk
The first step is not pretending the thoughts are gone. The first step is simply learning to notice them.
**Main Truth:**
Your value is not determined by your failures, your past, or what other people have said about you. Your value comes from the God who created you, loves you, and gave your life purpose.
