In a quiet town, there lived a man who never went anywhere without his Bible.
He carried it into diners, post offices, and barber shops. People called him “the Bible Man.”
But they also whispered something else:
“He’s got a temper.”
He was known for quick outbursts, harsh words, and cold stares.
Cashiers feared his criticism.
His kids braced for his frustration.
Even strangers could feel the tension in his presence.
At work, co-workers felt his simmering mood drag down team morale and productivity, like a silent weight that made every task harder to accomplish.
One afternoon, at a gas station, a young boy walked up to him with wide eyes and innocent curiosity.
“Mister… is God always mad like you?”
The question hit like a hammer to the chest.
When Testimony Turns Toxic
The man drove home in silence.
For the first time in a long time, he looked at the Bible not as a badge, but as a mirror.
That night, he read verses he had seen a hundred times, but this time… they cut deep:
“Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” — James 1:20
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” — Proverbs 15:1
It dawned on him:
He was carrying the truth but not living it.
He was showing people a Bible… but not showing them Christ.
And perhaps the worst part?
He was unknowingly painting God as angry, harsh, and impatient—because that’s how he acted.
The Hidden Damage of Anger
Uncontrolled anger doesn’t just hurt relationships, it damages testimonies.
When people see believers carrying the Bible but walking in rage, they wonder:
“Is that what God is like?”
And instead of drawing people to Jesus, it drives them away.
The truth is this: carrying the Bible is not a sign of holiness—living it is.
And anger that goes unchecked becomes a false witness against the God of love, mercy, and grace.
A New Beginning
The man in the story didn’t stop with guilt—he moved to repentance.
He began praying daily for God to soften his heart.
He apologized to his family and made peace with his neighbors.
He traded outbursts for quiet reflection.
Instead of snapping, he started listening.
Instead of boiling, he began breathing.
And slowly… people noticed.
The same community that once braced for his anger now approached him for prayer.
The man who once made people avoid church now made them wonder if God really could change hearts.
Because they had seen it happening in him.
The Gentle Call to You
If you’ve ever seen yourself in this story, if you’ve felt the sting of knowing your testimony isn’t lining up with the truth you carry—there’s hope.
God is not in the business of shaming you.
He’s in the business of transforming you.
“God, I’ve been misrepresenting You, and I don’t want to anymore.
Heal my heart. Help me trade anger for peace.
Let others see Your love in me.”
That simple prayer could be the start of a brand-new testimony.
Because the world doesn’t just need to see people holding Bibles.
They need to see people living like Jesus.
Let’s Reflect
If so, today is your day to surrender that burden—and let God write a new chapter in your story.
