Have you ever paused long enough to ask, “Is God pleased with me?”
It’s a bold, intimate question—one that cuts through the noise of everyday life and gets right to the heart of our purpose.
We spend a lot of time trying to please people. Parents. Partners. Bosses. Followers on social media. But what about the One who gave us life in the first place?
For many, the idea of pleasing God feels impossible or intimidating. Some think He’s angry, far away, or impossible to please. Others carry guilt from the past or feel like they’re not “good enough.” Still others are simply caught up in the whirlwind of life, distracted by everything else screaming for their attention.
But here’s the truth: God isn’t waiting for us to be perfect. He’s waiting for us to be present.
He longs for a relationship with us—not based on performance, but on love.
In 2 Corinthians 5:9, the Apostle Paul wrote,
“So we make it our goal to please Him.”
Why? Because nothing else satisfies our soul quite like knowing we’ve brought joy to the heart of our Creator.
Pleasing God isn’t about earning His favor—it’s a natural response to His love. Like a child drawing a picture for a parent just to see them smile, we too long to bring joy to the One who first loved us.
And here's a beautiful bonus: when we seek to please God first, everything else begins to fall into place. Peace deepens. Purpose sharpens. Perspective shifts.
The Bible gives us some clear and beautiful answers:
“Without faith, it is impossible to please God…” — Hebrews 11:6
God is moved when we trust Him—even when life doesn’t make sense. Faith tells Him, “I believe You’re good, even when I don’t see it yet.”
“If you love Me, keep My commands.” — John 14:15
Our choices matter. When we choose forgiveness over bitterness, honesty over comfort, and love over selfishness—we show Him we care.
“…Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8
God smiles when we treat others with grace, justice, and kindness. It’s not about grand gestures—it’s about daily love in action.
“Give thanks in all circumstances…” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
A thankful heart honors God more than we realize. It says, “You’re still worthy, no matter what I’m facing.”
You don’t need a perfect track record. You just need a willing heart.
Here are 3 simple ways to begin pleasing God today:
Pray daily: “God, help me please You today.”
Check your heart: At the end of the day, ask, “Did my choices honor You?”
Choose faith: In moments of doubt, whisper, “I trust You.”
God isn’t looking for a flawless resume. He’s looking for children who want to walk closely with Him.
Maybe you’ve made mistakes. Maybe you’ve ignored God for a long time. Maybe you’re not even sure what you believe. That’s okay.
He’s not pushing you away.
He’s drawing you in.
So today, let’s ask the question that really matters—not out of guilt, but out of love:
“God, how can I please You?”
You might be surprised by how simple—and joyful—the answer really is.
